A Guide to Earls Court Exhibition Center, London

Situated strategically between two underground stations, Earl's Court and West Brompton, the Earls Court Exhibition Center is a large complex consisting of two halls: Earls Court One, and Earls Court Two. In addition to these halls, there is the Olympia halls located nearby. All these exhibition halls are operated by EC&O Venues.

Earls Court originally started off as a waste land, but after the railroads were built, the land was used to stage outdoor shows, including Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. The first hall was built circa 1935, and then the second followed in 1991. Earls Court Two is a huge exhibition hall, with floor space totaling 17,000 square meters. This extraordinarily large hall hasn't a single column marring its floor space!

A whole host of exhibitions have been lined up for the remainder of April, including trade events like, Infosecurity Europe 2008 and the International Direct Marketing Fair 2008, apart from the consumer events like the Custom Bike Show 2008, Real Food Festival 2008, and the largest ever Doctor Who Exhibition.

The venues are easily accessible by a variety of transport options; firstly, the tube network, as it is flanked by two stations. Similarly for train access, the halls are conveniently located close to train stations. Multiple bus routes crisscross the venue and provide excellent accessibility. Additionally excellent road access is available, whether traveling in a car or on bicycle. There are bicycle racks and ample car parking spaces available around the venue. Airports are a little way off, but since it is London, the underground system provides easy connectivity.

The two halls are interconnected but separated by folding shutters. Earls Court 2 is divided into two additional halls: North and South. The area is extremely large, and is quite the favourite for music shows, and although it has previously received criticism for the acoustics, the hall can seat 19,000 people. Famous names have played within the walls, names including Metallica, Pink Floyd and Madonna.

There is also a colossal swimming pool situated in Earls Court 1. This pool alone takes 20 days to fill, and the same amount of time to drain off. So as not to strain resources, these operations are performed only at night.

They have adopted a policy of Corporate Social Responsibility, or CSR, where it recognizes the responsibility it has to the community and the environment as a whole. To that end, it has developed a report encompassing values of ethics, environmental considerations, and energy conservation policies, amongst others.
