The Laws That Govern Transformation

Back in 1998, when he was serving a prison sentence in northern Louisiana, Henry L. Jones read a column entitled: "Release from Prison Liberates; Truth Frees!" Near the end of the article, Jones read the following biblical quote: "I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jer. 2911)

Recalling that incident today, Jones, who read this column, published in the Inside Journal, a publication of Prison Fellowship Ministries, said he assumed that this promise applied to him. "My life," he says, "has not been the same since."

Released from prison about eight years ago, Henry set out to claim God's promises for him. Today, he's a tremendously successful business owner in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He and his sister operate a medical supplies company. He's an expert foreign currency exchange investor, as well as an accomplished real estate investor. Recently, he launched Mindscape International Learning Center, a tool he uses to help other men and women learn how to maximize their incredible human potential. For example, Henry just helped one of his students buy a $1.3 million mobile home part in Alabama.

Additionally, he recently published a book--"Free The Lion Within You."

Jones represents an excellent example of a point I've made continually during the past 40 years. The transformation from crime to contribution describes a process that begins on the inside and manifests itself outside in a person's life to aligns himself or herself with the process.

So contrary to popular belief, current economic conditions does not comprise insurmountable barriers to men and women being released from prison in the current economic climate. In fact, climate has nothing to do with whether criminals change or not, whether they make the arduous trek from crime to contribution.

The answer to this question: how effectively, efficiently and continually do you practice the laws of transformation. In this article I will list the laws, with just brief explanations. In a later series, I will give you and overview of how these laws. The laws are as follows:

1. Confront criminality. I define crime as a way of thinking that justifies harming others to gain for self.
2. Accept personal responsibility. Everyone who desires to transform must first acknowledge who and what he or she is and not position oneself as a victim of uncontrollable circumstances.
3. Release criminality. This means, briefly, to begin the process of changing thinking.
4. Embrace transformation. In other words, the criminal must want to change, and must commit to the process. 5. Learn to master new thinking.
6. Learn to master innovative thinking
7. Learn to master creative thinking
8. Learn to master enthusiastic thinking
9. Recognize value in yourself and others
10 Embrace power
11. Acquire whatever skills required, including marketable skills
12. Purchase the technology you need to continue the trek along the Change Continuum.
13. Establish responsible relationships
14. Engage accountable actions
15. Make comprehensive commitments
16. Embrace enterprising economics

Learn how to master and apply these principles and you become a PLUS--a Person Learning Unlimited S.U.CC.E.S.S. (Striving Until Clear, Comprehensive Empowerment Secures Stability).

Henry Jones adopted and continues living by these principles. I commend them to you!
